The book block is the main body of a book – its pages. The block is really what makes a book what it is –
diary, notebook or appointment book.
The book block is the main body of a book – its pages. The block is really what makes a book what it is –

Our blocks are thread sewn for strength and structure. A block is made up of groups of 32 page sections.
Our notebooks have several different design options for the block. In the custom range, you can even combine different design elements
5 different sizes.
Pages are printed in 2 colours and include lots of useful detail
A book for professional practices and firms needing to schedule and track frequent appointment times.
Block detail for notebooks
Notebook page detail is printed in warm grey on 80gsm uncoated white paper.
Sections in a book block
Book blocks are made up of “sections”. Each section has 32 pages.
When we count “pages” in a notebook we’re counting the number of page faces you can write on.
Options for number of pages
Sometimes you’re looking for something thinner. We offer 3 options for number of pages in a notebook
page faces
(80 leaves)
page faces
(96 leaves)
page faces
(112 leaves)
Counting pages in a book
The “leaves” in a notebook are the pieces of paper themselves. Each leaf has 2 sides or page faces.
If you had a 192 page book block, and wrote “1” on the first page, then consecutive numbers on each left and right page after that, you would finish on the last page of the book block with the number “192”.

Block detail for diaries
Diary page detail is printed in blue and grey on 80gsm uncoated white paper. Diaries have a detailed section at the front which is full of useful reference material.
Each diary pages also has a travel logbook for keeping track of business travel.
We also have a simpler student diary, printed in a warm grey with positive quotes at the foot of each page.
There is also a design element which changes for each month. I think it will be unappealing for most students as it feels a bit patronising and out of touch

Block detail for appointment book
Appointment book page detail is printed in warm grey on 80gsm uncoated white paper.
An interesting option is to add your own branding to the block. It does increase the cost, but the book becomes really unique.

Adding your own printed inserts between sections or around sections
The great thing about building your own book is you can add your own printed inserts between sections or wrapped around sections. You can really make it your book. Long or short run, the print and build it all done in-house on great quality presses.
Inserts can be printed in 1 colour or full colour.
4 page inserts (or multiples of 4) can be positioned at the front or back of the book, between book block sections or wrapped around sections.
If you only want 2 pages, these can be “tipped in” which just means glued or striped in. The small down side of tipping in is that the lay flat properties are not quite as good as for a 4 page section.
Paper options for your inserts
Inserts can be printed on uncoated paper which matches the feel of the notebook pages, or on coated paper which has a glossier finish but a different feel to the notebook pages.
